You may locate this little piece of paradise halfway between the beautiful islands of Skiathos and Alonissos. Fly into Skiathos and then be whisked over the sea to Skopelos, where the calm water glistens in a variety of blue colours and the warm golden sand is equally alluring. It doesn't get much better for a lovely Greek vacation in a breathtaking location than this.

The largest island in the Northern Sporades group, Skopelos, has managed to avoid the taint of mass tourism in a lovely way. Skopelos has earned the rightful moniker "the Emerald of the Aegean" thanks to its lush green hillsides covered in pine and olive trees that sweep down across the landscape. Its charming white-washed homes cascade down the slopes in layers, creating a landscape that is distinctly Greek, while the lush pine trees provide as a lovely backdrop for the olive groves and exquisite plum, almond, and citrus orchards. Days can be passed relaxing on excellent sand and shingle beaches and discovering pebble coves while exploring the wonderful interior of the island. From the neighboring island of Skiathos, one can access this pristine island.

Everywhere you look in Skopelos, which is steeped in history, you can see evidence of the vibrant Greek culture. In Glossa, there are Byzantine-era old walls and 400 BC-era remains. The town of Skopelos is situated at the base of a Venetian castle, and the monastery of Aghios Taxiarchos, the island's most northerly point, is located at Cape Gourouni. Built atop the remains of a Byzantine church from the seventh century, this structure has breathtaking views and a functioning lighthouse.

Local shops, markets and bars

There are numerous local shops and tavernas serving authentic Greek food all across the island. Skopelos Town, on the other hand, is a must-visit if you're looking for a bigger range. The heart of Skopelos Town is the harbor, where you may dine on one of the delectable traditional delicacies and sip a cool glass of Retsina at one of the many waterfront cafes, pubs, or tavernas.

Choose between sand, shingle, or protected pebble coves for your beach experience. Whatever you decide, swimmers, snorkelers, and divers will all enjoy the crystal-clear water lapping the coast. You can take boat journeys from Skopelos' main port if you'd want to see the adjacent islands, and inter-island ferries make this possible.
